Jackie Beltran12 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Davyd and his team have been the best group I’ve worked with over my many years as a homeowner. They are skilled professionals with an artistic touch! We absolutely love our mudroom transformation!! Joe Tamel6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We feel lucky to have discovered Finish Carpenter. We moved into a new home from out of state and asked Davyd to bid several projects. He and his team proved to be incredibly professional, talented, and meticulous. Every thing they did in our home exceeded our expectations. We're so happy with the improvements they made that we've already started planning a few new projects for them. I would absolutely recommend Davyd and his team to anyone looking to have carpentry, construction, wood working, or painting done in their home. Joe Palomino19 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Davyd and his team were easy to work with and they did an exceptional job with the beams project in my office. They worked quickly and kept everything very clean. The craftsmanship is excellent and I look forward to working with them again in the future. Thank you! Mia H31 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and I recently bought a home with an early 2000s builder grade cutout in the living room and an asymmetrical fireplace that we’ve been wanting to change since we moved in. After talking to a woodworker and other contractors who couldn’t do what we envisioned within our budget, I decided to reach out to Finish Carpenter. Within days of contacting David, we had our EXACT vision for a bookcase and remodeled mantel custom built ready for us to enjoy. We were blown away by the craftsmanship and efficiency. We’re already thinking of other projects for David’s team to help us with in the future. KeithB20 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Eli added a beautiful beam plus tongue and groove pine to our large great room ceiling. His work is high quality. He takes pride in doing it right and making his customers happy. Eli communicated well in the initial planning and also kept me aware of progress. He and his crew were respectful of our home, taking care to cover floors and clean up at the end of each day. The overall experience working with him was excellent. I highly recommend him. Curt Osborne20 October 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Eli Interiors does amazing work. Every interior door, every inch of baseboard and every inch of casing in the house was replaced. Also, several new exterior windows and doors were trimmed out and a vaulted ceiling was installed in white pine. Every cut is precise and perfect and Eli's attention to detail is unmatched. He also did demolition of our kitchen and his careful attention to detail really paid off there, too. He precisely and carefully demo'd the kitchen. And Eli is just a pleasure to work with. Good humored and smart and, above all, complete honesty and integrity. A rare combination of traits in this business. 100% recommended. Photos show un-carpeted steps -- not in his project. David Takeda13 September 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Davyd and Finish Carpenter were great. They created two custom built-in bookcases and then I asked them to make three custom jersey cases. They coordinated with other contractors for drywall repair, electrical, and painting. I highly recommend them for your project. Gloria Pfeif8 September 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These custom cabinets provided space for my collection of cookbooks and vintage fabric. A perfect combination of form and function which blends with the details of the home. Excellent craftsmanship. Jennifer Lohner2 July 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Eli was great. He replaced baseboards, trim, installed new closet doors (the old ones were broken), vent covers, a cabinet. He has really good attention to detail, thinks through the projects to ensure everything functions and aesthetically looks good. He is a thorough cleaner... each day, it was like he was never there. This was incredibly helpful as I have three kids and he was working around them (bless his soul) for several days. Very patient and kind. Laura27 June 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Davyd and his team at Finish Carpenter did a great job installing crown molding and a custom wood hood in the kitchen. The job they did looks fantastic and I highly recommend them.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Old Tuscan Ceiling Beams with Mantel & Stone Fireplace Surround
Transforming a living room into a warm, inviting space is one of the most rewarding challenges in finish carpentry. For this project, Finish Carpenter LLC delivered a three-part solution: decorative ceiling beams, a custom mantel, and built-in bookcases — all working together to create a cohesive Old World atmosphere.
Knotty Alder Beams: Natural Character Overhead
To achieve the rustic effect the homeowner envisioned, each overhead timber was built using a U-shaped box construction — three planks cut and assembled to look like a solid wooden beam from the outside. As a result, the final look closely resembles natural solid timber, but at a significantly more accessible cost. Additionally, each beam was finished with a wood stain technique that deepens the tone, giving it the rich, dark character of aged, high-end hardwood.
Custom Mantel: A Focal Point That Ties It All Together
The fireplace mantel was designed specifically to complement the overhead woodwork and match the room's dark furniture and stone surround. Furthermore, the stone detailing around the firebox adds a medieval, aristocratic quality — reminiscent of candlelit great halls — giving the entire wall an elevated, timeless feel. Together, the beams and mantel create a unified visual language throughout the space.
Built-In Bookcases: Where Storage Meets Architecture
Finally, the custom built-in bookcases complete the room by integrating seamlessly into the walls. Rather than standalone furniture, these units add architectural permanence and generous display space. Consequently, the room feels both grander and more intentional — every element connected, nothing out of place.
The Result
In summary, three carefully coordinated millwork elements — overhead beams, mantel, and bookcases — unified through consistent material choices and craftsmanship, transform an ordinary living room into a richly layered, handcrafted interior.
