Fireplace Surrounds Installation & Trim Work
A fireplace serves as the centerpiece of any living room, combining warmth and style. For this project in Englewood, our client requested a classic traditional fireplace surround with a custom mantel and pilasters. The goal was to create a timeless feature that would complement the room’s architecture and provide a functional surface for décor.
Our team at Finish Carpenter LLC designed and installed a mantel shelf above the fireplace, ensuring depth and proportion to anchor the space. Below the shelf, crown molding trim was added, providing a detailed finish that enhances the overall elegance. The mantel projects outward slightly, creating a natural platform for decorative accents.
Two vertical pilasters were installed on either side of the fireplace. Each pilaster features fluted detailing, adding vertical lines and shadow depth, which enhances the classic aesthetic. The pilasters rest on solid plinth bases, balancing proportions and integrating seamlessly with the ceiling trim and crown molding.
The entire surround was prepped for a smooth paint-grade finish. After sanding and caulking, a uniform coat of paint was applied, highlighting the fluting and trim work while giving the fireplace a polished, clean appearance.
This installation demonstrates how careful design, quality materials, and expert craftsmanship can turn a standard fireplace into a striking architectural feature. The result is a classic traditional fireplace surround that elevates both the room’s style and functionality.
